The Slovenian Academic Society of Technical and Natural Sciences SATENA was established on the 27th of October 1993 and registered on 20. November 1994.

SATENA is a society of researchers professors and developers, who work in high end research in the fields of technical and natural sciences, with wide academic and business acclaim.

SATENA furthers technical and natural sciences as well as innovation. With its activities it nurtures the growth of scientific and technical culture. This leads to accelerated quality of live improvements  nd the growth of technical scientific and business life in the Republic of Slovenia.

SATENA closely cooperates with the Academy of Slovenian engineers (ISA), that is the platform the forming of future and current political perspectives in science, technology and industry. It also further improves the quality of engineering in Slovenia.

SATENA is part of the important discussion on:

• The strategy of sustainable development of Slovenia (November 2011)
• Consultations on doctorial studies in Slovenia (March 2010) and
• Consultations with the IAS on the role of Engineers in Slovenia. (October 2009)

The executive board of SATEMA also prepares statements and thesis work for strategic documents:

• National program of higher education 2011-2020 (NPVS)
• Research and innovations strategy of Slovenia 2011 – 2020 (RISS)
