SWIM – Sustainable Waste Industry Management
SWIM is an integrated project for sustainable industrial waste management with the objectives of developing innovative processing technology and new products for reuse in construction and industry.

The SWIM project is designed for the sustainable management of industrial waste, the specific part of which are metallurgical waste from the steel industry. Within the loop of the circular economy and the value chain according to the principle of economy of closed material flows it connects all stakeholders: economic entities as original waste producers, waste processors, end users of new construction products and reusable products in industry, educational and research institutions, non-governmental organizations, and individuals.
Ekomineral has established a synergistic interaction of the quarry, which primarily acquires natural mineral resources, and the processing of waste materials, for the production of new products for reuse in construction, mining and industry. For the purpose of implementing these closely related activities, it also carries out research and development of new technological, products and service solutions, which have a high level of environmental protection.
Within the SWIM, we have developed innovative mobile technological equipment ViliMagneto with specially designed screening drums for processing metallurgical waste into high quality recycled products. On the domestic and foreign markets, we enable the complete technological process of recycling metallurgical waste and output of products for reuse in engineering facilities, road construction and asphalt mixtures, including environment impacts control and protection of the natural environment.
Recycled building, industrial and metallurgical waste are technologically and environmentally acceptable and an excellent alternative to natural mineral resources. In construction products, they can completely or partially replace the natural aggregate. The recycled steel slag resulting from the production of carbon steel in Štore Steel is a high quality artificial aggregate which, due to its excellent resistance to crushing and excellent polished stone value of a coarse aggregate, is suitable for use in surfacing asphalt layers as the heaviest trafficked roads and as a railway ballast. In the mixed aggregates Remix, the steel slag partly replaces the natural stone aggregate, and with its binding properties, it enables the use of Remix products in many building applications.
