SMART CIRCUIT – enabling smarter, circular digital innovation hubs to enhance Central Europe’s manufacturing eco-system towards a greener & more competitive future

SMART CIRCUIT project, led by the Polish Technology Park Krakow, together with 11 other partners from Central Europe, including Tool and Die Development Center – TECOS, addresses the renovation of digital HUB centers with a circular management model, the spread of excellence and bridging/operational strategic gaps in EU member states, where the implementation of digital and circular strategic directions is insufficient or too slow responsive. The total value of the project is EUR 2,473,003.00 and is co-financed through the financial instrument Interreg CENTRAL EUROPE, program scheme 2021-27. The project will start this year and will last for the next 36 months.

Growth in Central Europe (CE) manufacturing is characterised by high resource use, waste & emissions, especially in select value-chains (VCs) (e.g: electronics/ICT; construction; textiles). Circular Economy (CircEc) is key to address this & closing key VC loops is crucial, but gaps remain. CircEc grows in CE, but a lag exists & effort is needed to help territories (e.g., HR, PL, CZ, SO, HU) catch up & bridge the gap. Digital/technology-driven business models (powered by ICT, data & new tech) enables manufacturing CircEc & promotes a competitive-edge in CE, but mixed access remains. SMART CIRCUIT’s objective is to foster the uptake of digital & tech-driven CircEc to CE manufacturing via a connected network of Digital Innovation Hubs (DIHs) & test/roll-out multi-stakeholder solutions to fast-track adoption of CircEc to enable a resource-efficient & competitive transition in key CE VCs (focus on 3 resource intense VCs + CircEc VC).
