In cooperation with the Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering of the University of Maribor, we successfully held the 6th International Conference on Technologies and Business Models for Circular Economy – TBMCE 2023. We are proud that the conference was attended by around 150 participants, 28% from the academic sector, 30% from industry, 22% from various ministries, chambers and associations, and 20% from other institutions. The total number of authors or co-authors of papers presented in lectures or posters was 212.
The conference was held under the auspices of the Ministry of Economy, Tourism and Sport and the Ministry of Cohesion and Regional Development. The Netherlands joined us as a partner country. At the opening ceremony, we were addressed by State Secretary at the Ministry of Economy, Tourism and Sport Matevž Frangež, Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to Slovenia Johan O. Verboom, Director General of the Directorate for Economic and Public Diplomacy at the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs dr. Slobodan Šešum, President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Štajerska Albert Kekec, Vice-Rector of the University of Maribor Prof. Dr. Dean Korošak, Dean of the Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering of the University of Maribor Prof. Dr. Zoran Novak and President of the TBMCE Conference Prof. Dr. Zdravko Kravanja.
s sector? One option is to switch from coal to renewable energy and replace natural gas with hydrogen, which would immediately reduce CO2 emissions. It is also important to consider carbon storage, as this technology has been in use for a long time and there are already many commercial projects. A key barrier is the lack of awareness of the benefits of this technology at government level. It is therefore essential to develop political awareness, as without the use of these technologies it will be difficult to achieve our net zero emission targets.
