Wcycle Institute is a highly professional project core for implementation of research and development, introduction of selected technologies and the use of integrated IT tool for information and supervision, all with a goal of using processed waste, energy and treated water as new sources. We have prepared numerous projects with an aim to successfully redirect the city of Maribor from linear to circular economy. With the first step within the project Wcycle – building the automated waste sorting plant, we divert a large part of waste streams directly into recovery, and preserve the waste flows within the urban area.
Urban Soil 4 Food
The Urban Soil 4 Food will test a model of urban soil-based economy circle in order to increase local food self-sufficiency and to minimize the city’s environmental footprint. The aim is to use cities’ internal waste – particularly excavated materials from construction sector – as input material to produce recycled, standardized and certified soil for meeting cities’ needs, and notably to be re-introduced to the ground in order to improve soil quality and increase food production.
